A childhood spent on a barrier island off
the coast of southwest Florida inspired Nora's strong appreciation for tropical wildlife. The many summers spent searching the
sandbars for perfect shells, snorkeling, fishing, and bug catching resulted in a fascination with the combinations of pattern, color
and design found within the realm of coastal and marine life.
Beginning with a classic shape of the subject, she artfully marries surrealistic whimsy and scientific realism in designing the subject's interior. She includes elements from the subject's environment, as well as abstract images and imaginative designs.
The vivid colors found in each of her creations are obtained by blending layers of colored pencil with a bold amount of fantasy...
The original artwork has been reproduced in the form of giclees, limited edition prints, posters, notecards and wearables and are sold in many shops and galleries nationwide and in the Carribbean.
Nora's work has been described by many careful observers as "pictures within pictures".
